Combine Sealing Wax & Common Seals In 5 Steps

Combine Sealing Wax Common Seals
In situations where convenience is prioritised, the use of common seals has been combined with common seal stickers for fast and neat application. However, there are still a large amount of users who value aesthetical sense, and therefore opt to use the same old method of combining sealing wax with their common seals. Here’s how you can achieve an authentic design with sealing wax in just 5 steps:

  1. Preparation

For users who aren’t keen on direct application (since there is always a possibility that wax may ruin envelopes and stain important parchment), you can actually prepare the wax seals in advance. Here are some of the items you would need for the entire process so make sure to get them all ready before you begin: Cookie sheets or wax paper, glue, wax candles, oil (vegetable oil is the best recommendation), any form of additional embellishments, a spoon, glue pots or butane lighter or heating tool of choice. Once you have made the necessary preparations, you can continue onto the next step.

  1. Melting

To begin making the wax seal, you will be required to melt the wax. Prepare your wax paper and spread it out onto a flat surface so that there will be no uneven texture in your wax seals. Now you can choose two methods- Using either a lighter for direct application onto the wax paper or a glue pot.

For lighters, simply light your wax candle and hold it at an angle so that the melted wax will drip onto your wax paper. Make sure that your candle flames aren’t in direct contact with the melted wax and won’t be extinguished by it so that you can keep a steady stream. To melt the candle evenly,

  1. Additional embellishments

This step is optional but additional embellishments can be added to your wax seals for a customised touch. For example- ribbons or coloured ink embossing. This is highly recommended for design enthusiasts who wish to add on personal touches to their seals. While it’s not exactly the most practical, it could potentially be an opportunity to showcase your creativity and talent.

  1. Removal

Keep your common seal pressed in for about 30-45 seconds so that the wax puddle solidifies and keep a firm consistent pressure. Once the wax hardens, you can extract and pull your common seal away upwards as gently as possible. This will have successfully created the wax seal and you can repeat the same steps as many times as you want. Keep in mind that you may occasionally have to smear a thin layer of oil onto your common seal for easy removal.
